Contributions to Cooking and Water Heating Costs
If you heat water over an electrical flow-type heater or a boiler, there’s no need to continue reading.
If you are connected to central heating or single-storey gas heating, this is interesting!
Own Contributions:
Ideally the back of your Hartz-4 notification will tell you the deduction (your own contribution) for heating water and /or a deduction (own contribution) for cooking energy, unless you cook with electricity. If not, you will be able to tell the amount of your contribution from the difference between the actual rent and the officially assumed expenses for accommodation and heating.
Example for a one-person household:
You gross rent amounts to € 345, 00, the notice of approval states € 338, 21. (The contribution for heating water has been calculated correctly), and amounts to € 6, 79.
Caution:
For many recipients of ALG II, this amount is too high. Have a look at your notification!
If you get warm water over the central warm water supply, that amounts to a deduction of € 6, 79 per month.
This lump sum is applicable even if you have a hot water gauge. This gauge measures the water consumption, but not the energy needed to heat it.
If you heat your apartment through single-storey gas heating, you’ll likely receive warm water through this facility. That amounts to a deduction of € 6, 79 (own contribution).
Generally, you’ll have a gas stove. Cooking energy is calculated at € 5, 04 for your own contribution.
