Child Care
Child Care costs are included in the training expenses.
Expenses accrued for child care for children needing attendance, while you participate in vocational training, can be assumed by the employment agency.
Children
needing attendance, in the sense of employment promotion, are children under the age of 15 years.
Child Care Expenses
Child care expenses in the sense of employment promotion are
- kindergarden / after school care costs,
- day care costs,
- extra expenses for caring neighbours or relations.
Boarding costs are not seen as child care costs.
Assumption of costs
Expenses are assumed at a rate of € 130 per child per month, irrespective of the actually emerging costs.

Extra Jobs and Learning
keeps a database from which you may select qualification offers as a participant of a MAE-scheme.
The selection of offers is to be understood as a supplement to basic qualifications and is divided up as follows:
- single modules of recognised formally trained vocations for untrained youths under 25,
- modular vocational qualification,
- school leaving certificates (“Haupt”- and “Real” school graduation)
- vocation based language training
Participation is voluntary and does not have to be related to the type of activity done in the MAE-job. You will also keep receiving your increased expenditure compensation of € 1, 50.

This facility is open to all citizens.
Information on numerous training and further training offers can be found here. Do your own research or be advised by the staff. Many offers pertain to help and support compiling application documents and the use of training databases.
Mobile learning consultants visit especially the youth and older people on site and give advice on vocational training and personal development opportunities.
Consultation is free of charge and no prior appointment is needed.
Several free computer workshops are being offered from the middle of July to September, ranging from Word and PowerPoint to the use of the Internet. Participation is free of charge.
The events take place in the GSUB project house, Karl Marx-Street 122, on the 1st floor of the back house and are limited to three participants each.

Alpha Treff - Lesen und Schreiben e.V.
This society offers workshop for adults which have little or no literacy and convey general basic education. These workshops are held in small groups. Please make an appointment.
Overview of the offers:

- Consultation and grading for reading and writing courses, if need be placement with other educational institutions
- Full time training “literacy and basic education”
- Classes for participants in employment positions with increased expenditure compensation (MAE)
- Classes by arrangement (e. g. private or supported according to KJHG)
- Single and group tuition for other educational institutions
- For businesses: reading and writing courses for employed ABM- workers
Reading and Writing is a society for the common good, which was founded by literate and illiterate members in 1983, to offer a support group for other German speaking illiterates.

e-learning
The vocational training courses for MAE participants supported by the ESF have changed. Some courses are being offered with an out-of-pocket charge, mostly amounting to 3 € per hour.
But there is an alternative for those eager for knowledge:
The central and regional library offers you best conditions with it's e-LernBar. The e-LernBar in the middle of Berlin in the Haus Berliner Stadtbibliothek:

Opening hours: Monday and Thursday 13-19h00, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 13-16h00.
Every visitor of over 18 years of age in possession of a pass for the public libraries of Berlin (VÖBB) has free access to the self-study courses. You can decide what you would like to study and at which speed. The library offers study courses in different areas:
* Languages (German, English, Spanish, French, Italian)
* MS Office 2007 and 2003 (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Image processing (e. g. Photoshop CS, Corel Draw 8.0)
* Windows Vista and XP
* Computer and Information Technology

In the e-LernBar, you also have the opportunity to utilise work spaces for database and internet research. The Microsoft Office-programs Word, Excel and PowerPoint can be used on site. Printing the results is possible.
Two Photoshop-workstations and a scanner are also available.
